Stefan Markovski is a Macedonian writer, poet, screenwriter, and philosopher, author of novels, short story collections, poetry, and academic books, MA in Screenwriting at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) in Skopje.
Markovski’s contribution to Macedonian literature has granted him multitude of literary awards and honors in his country and abroad, including the “Macedonian Literary Avant-garde” for a book of short stories, “Petre M. Andreevski” award for novel, “Beli Mugri” for a poetry book, “Krste Čačanski” for a book of short stories, “Literary Circle for Fiction” for a book of short stories, The “7-th November Award” of Gevgelija municipality, “Književno pero” and “Goran Bujić” awards given by the Croatian Writers’ Association (HKD), “Naji Naaman Award” given by FCG Naji Naaman Foundation for Gratis Culture – Lebanon, “Feast of Linden” award for a poem given by the Association of Writers of Macedonia, UNESCO and Makedonika award for Macedonian writers up to 30 years of age, “Script Fest Award” for a feature film script, among others.
Markovski is a member of the Association of Writers of Macedonia, the Macedonian center of the International Theatre Institute, the European poetry platform “Versopolis” and other international associations. He’s the chief editor of the oldest Macedonian literary magazine – Sovremenost, editor of the review Stožer published by the Association of Writers of Macedonia, as well as the poetry collections of the project Metric caravan, published by the municipal library in Gevgelija, where he’s serving as a library director.
Markovski has authored over a dozen scientific papers in international scientific journals on literary science, stylistics, and philosophy.
Some of his works have been translated into foreign languages and the English translations of his novels “The Bumblebee Anatomy”, “Letters of Heresy”, his collection of short stories “Faustus Runs the Plebeian Circle” and the poetry collection “Promised Land” have achieved notable success on Amazon.com and are available on dozens of bookselling platforms and libraries, including Barnes and Noble, Baker and Taylor, Vivlio, Tolino, Fnac, Booktopia, Kobo, Ibs, Bol, Indigo etc.
His novel “The Bumblebee Anatomy” has peaked at #1 in the Eastern European Literature category on Amazon.com.
He translates from and into English, and from Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, and Bulgarian into Macedonian, and has taken part in various literary residencies and projects.
