Khaled Osman is a literary translator (Arabic to French) and a novelist, who was born in Egypt and educated in France.  He has translated a large number of novels by writers from Egypt (Nagib Mahfuz, Gamal Ghitani, Ahmad al-Aidy, Ahmad Aboukhnegar, Yussef Ziedan, Nael Eltoukhy), Palestine (Sahar Khalifa), Iraq (Inaam Kachachi), Yemen (Ali al-Muqri), Syria (Nihad Sirees, Samar Yazbek),  Saudi Arabia (Raja Alem), Oman (Jokha al-Harthi), Lebanon (Hanan el-Shaykh). He has been awarded several prizes for his translation work, in particular the 'Prix de l'Académie Française' for his translation of two novels by Naguib Mahfouz, and two prizes for his translation of Gamal Ghitani's masterpiece 'The book of illuminations'.  Khaled is also the author of two novels in French, both initially published by éditions 'Vents d'ailleurs' and recently re-published by 'Les Défricheurs' :  Le Caire à corps perdu (Cairo reckless), released in September 2011 and  La colombe et le moineau (The Dove and the Sparrow), released in April 2016.
