Mojaffor Hossain is a distinguished fiction writer within the realm of contemporary Bangla literature. He began his professional journey as a journalist and is currently employed as a translator at the Bangla Academy in Dhaka. Hossain has authored eight books filled with captivating short stories that have garnered significant recognition from both the general public and literary critics in recent years. His distinctive approach involves utilizing local realities as backdrops, infusing them with elements of magic realism or surrealism. His works have been translated into several languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, Hindi, Gujarati, and Nepali. Additionally, seven of his stories have been adapted for stage performances in Dhaka, Kolkata, and New York, with some also being transformed into films and television dramas. He has received multiple awards for his short stories. Furthermore, Mojaffor is recognized for his contributions as a translator and literary critic, having published a total of 30 books to date.
