Mona Merhi is a Lebanese writer, playwright, and theatre artist whose work bridges literature, scholarly work, performance, Film and TV production, and cultural commentary. With a background in theatre and cultural mediation, her oeuvre blends narrative depth with performative insight.
She is the author of three books: Festivity Under Water/Tabula Rasa (a collection of plays), Out of Service (a short story collection and flip-book), and Domino’s Devils. The latter was longlisted for the prestigious 2023 Al-Multaqa Prize for the Arabic Short Story.
Merhi’s work often explores themes of memory, trauma, identity, and the absurdities of everyday life. Alongside her creative writing, she has contributed as a theatre critic, researcher, and scholar. She currently teaches Theatre Studies’ courses at James Madison University.
