The Oslo Trilogy: Love

Marianne is a no-nonsense doctor who has little use for conventional ideas about relationships. Tor, a sensitive nurse, feels similarly, consciously leaving behind social expectations of closeness and partnership. The two meet by chance one evening on a ferry, where they have an intense and very open conversation. Tor tells her about his night-time trips, on which he deliberately seeks out fleeting encounters with men. His attitude towards intimacy and his openness touch Marianne in unexpected ways and raise questions in her mind about a different, unconventional understanding of closeness.
