Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Russian poets critical of the regime have taken up the pen and produced a poetic stream of rare power. Sometimes in the form of parodies, sometimes as elegies or diary entries - the sixteen authors in this anthology subject their society and their country to an examination of conscience in times of war. These committed, censored and sometimes secretly disseminated texts trace the contours of a diverse and multifaceted contemporary Russian poetry, in which the "we" displaces the "I" and indulges in collective introspection.
