Duna Ghali

Biography

Duna Ghali is an Iraqi writer, translator and poet, born in Basra in 1963. A graduate of the Faculty of Agronomy at Basra University, she left Iraq following the Gulf War and moved to Copenhagen in 1992. She has worked in literary translation, notably at the Royal Danish Library.
She is the author of several novels, including Al-Nuqta al-Ab'ad (2000), Indama Tastayqiz al-Ra'iha, Manazil al-Wahsha, Batnuha al-Ma'wa and Janub, as well as collections of prose and poetry. She has also published Danish-language fiction, poetry and prose, as well as literary translations.
She is a member of the Danish Writers Union, the Danish Translators Association and PEN, and publishes in both Arabic and Danish.
