Tengezar Marini was born on September 4, 1959 in Syrian Kurdistan. He is a writer, painter and social worker and currently works in a refugee shelter. He is also involved in voluntary work and provides advice to refugees and the homeless.
For many years, he has organized various literary and political programmes on the radio and on digital television channels. He gives lectures and readings not only in Germany, but also in many European countries as well as in Iraq, Turkey and Syria.
Marini regularly publishes books and articles on literary criticism, political essays and poems in various magazines and newspapers in Kurdish. He also introduces German literature by presenting German writers with selected poems or texts and makes international literature accessible to a wide audience under the title "Under the Magnifying Glass". He has also published several volumes of poetry in Kurdish and German.
His creativity is not only evident in his poetry, but also in his painting and his diverse cultural involvement in the city of Hanover. He is particularly passionate about literature: it is very important to him to inspire people for it, to make it understandable and to promote interest in it.
