Peter Baranowski was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He studied Physics and Arabic Language and Literature at the Universities of Heidelberg, Berlin, and Oxford before completing the directing program at the University of Television and Film Munich.
After a brief stint in the private sector, he directed award-winning shorts including Rauschgift (Addicted), winner of the Pardino d’Oro at Locarno, and Bis ich es weiß (Until I Know), which screened at Toronto. His feature documentary The Temperature of Will premiered at the Munich International Film Festival and was later released in German cinemas.
He had been living in Central Asia with his family for several years to produce and direct his fictional feature Science. With his Munich-based production company, Rohstoff Film, he continues to develop projects exploring new forms of expression, particularly at the intersection of science and art.
