Axel Timo Purr talks to Filipino author, comic artist and copywriter Katrina F. Olan, whose bestseller Tablay interweaves science fiction, mythology and politics. Olan tells of her journey into an advertising agency and literature, the influence of Western media and the power of the Filipino comic grassroots movement. Her writing is shaped by the years under Duterte, by issues such as political revisionism, land grabbing and the displacement of indigenous cultures - and by the question of how family ties, collective responsibility and old concepts such as the Bayanihan can be translated into a future that  "we ourselves decide".
