Ali AlShaali (Arabic: علي الشعالي) is an Emirati poet, publisher, and cultural activist. He has published five anthologies of poetry and a novel. Additionally, he recently released a collection of cultural essays centered on publishing and writing, titled Chambers with Windows, as well as a short story collection, Pomegranate flavored lives.
Ali’s works have received acclaim from both critics and audiences alike. His first novel was longlisted for the renowned Sheikh Zayed Book Award and later won the prestigious Al Owais Award for Creativity. In 2024, he was honored as the Poet of the Year at the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival.
His poetry collection, The Earth Has But One Soul, has been published in Spanish, Turkish, and Greek, and translated into Italian, Korean, and English. Ali is an active participant in the regional cultural scene as both an author and a publisher. In 2011, he founded the Al Hudhud Group for publishing and distribution, which includes Al Hudhud for children and young adults, Alloha for adults, and Flamingo e-bookshop.
