Jhak Valcourt (Ayití), writer, translator, plastic artist and teacher. Author of the novel El vaivén de las horas (1st edition, Santo Domingo, 2021); (2nd edition, Sultana de Lagos Editores, Venezuela, 2023); and the book of short stories Grietas (Luna Insomne Editores, Santo Domingo, 2022) from which two stories have been chosen for the section "Conexión Derek Walcott" of Trasdemar Magazine. He is third place winner of the 2019 Juan Bosch Short Story Prize, organized by the Global Foundation, Democracy and Development with the short story "Quiero vender este reloj", published in Malas palabras y otros cuentos (Editorial Funglode, Santo Domingo, 2020). He has twice been second runner-up in the Poxeo Literario (poetry contest), organized by Anticanon and Centro cultural España (2018 and 2019). Honorable mention in the XX Alianza Cibaeña short story award, 2023. Texts of his have been published in the magazines ¿Cómo así? (Dominican Republic), and Trasdemar (Canary Islands, Spain). As a cultural manager he has collaborated with the Centro Cultural de España, Sol Scène and Anticanon.
