Born in Imphal on 8 November 1937, Ngathem Ningol Kongbam Ongbi Ibeyaima is happily married to Kongbam Iboyaima and is a proud mother of five sons and one daughter. Apart from being a hardworking housewife, she is also the president of women's organisations for the advancement of women.
Her first children's book Umaibi Amashung Atei Phunga Warishing (Eagle and Other Folk Tales) published in 2004 won the Telem Ningol Atoibema Award 2009 for Children's Literature instituted by Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti, Imphal, Manipur. Sorarengi Machanupi Atonbi Leimashang Amashung Atei Phunga Warishing published in 2008 received the Ashangbam Minaketan Angang Nawa Sahitya Mana 2010 instituted by Manipuri Sahitya Parisad, Imphal and the Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2010 by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
